Silent Angel VitOS for RPi4 is an operating system, which supports Roon Bridge, developed by Thunder Data Co. Ltd.
VitOS is a customized Linux based operating system designed for music server and player. Optimizations in the kernel and system are done by Silent Angel engineers and make it possible to enhance the performance of network I/O, USB I/O, task manager, ..., and so on. As a result, running Roon Bridge and other music player application on VitOS has better sound quality than other OS.
To use VitOS on your Raspberry Pi 4, just download the image file and write to the micro SD card with flash tool (such as: Etcher). Then plug in the micro SD card to your Raspberry Pi 4. You can use iOS app and Android app named "VitOS Manager" to manage the VitOS.
VitOS V1.0 supports USB DAC as audio output device. You can connect your USB DAC to the USB port on your RPi4 board.
With VitOS Manager, you are able to install Roon Bridge to the VitOS. Then you can discover the RPi4 board with Roon apps and play music to the DAC.

Once download has finished, you’ll have a zip file
Extract the downloaded zip file and you’ll have a .img image file
Open etcher, and click on “Select Image”. Now select the VitOS for RPi4 .img file (such as VitOS-1.0.823-20191225131935.img)
Insert the MicroSD Card on your computer, you could use an external card reader or the SD slot if your computer has one.
Click on Select drive, and select the SD Card \ SD Card reader.
To be safe, unplug every External USB Drive you may have connected to your PC and make sure
that the device name correspond to the microSD card
Click “Continue” and when ready, hit “Flash”
When the operation has finished (it may take up to 10 minutes) close Etcher and eject the SD card
Done! VitOS for RPi4 is now on your SD Card!
Insert the SD Card into the Device
Plug the Ethernet Cable
Connect the USB DAC, otherwise plug your Audio connection of choice
Power the device on
Install VitOS Manager to your mobile devices.

By using “VitOS Manager” app on an iPad / iPhone / Android Pad / Android Phone, which is connected to the same LAN, you are able to discover your device and connect to your device. Click on Roon Bridge in the main page of VitOS Manager and install Roon Bridge to your VitOS for RPi4 simply by clicking on Install.
Now your Roon Core are able to find the USB DAC connected to your device and play music.
VitOS for RPi4 Performance Comparison
Play the same music track, capture network packet from Roon bridge and analyze the latency of response packet from Roon bridge, then analyze the roon bridge latency and compare the result. The Lower latency, the better music player performance is.
